It has been my great honor to fundraise for SHIELD616 for the last 4+ years. I have also had the privilege to share this most valuable non-profit’s story as a television reporter and team member of the SHIELD616 Bicycle Team, that works every year to raise money for first responders riding the state of Colorado border to border over 4 days. The story of the hard work of SHIELD616 to outfit peace officers, paramedics, EMTs and other first responders nationwide with the protection they need if they have to respond to an active shooter situation has been one of the most important aspects of my work as a journalist in Colorado Springs. We are continuing to respond to an increasing number of suspects armed with rifles. Our soft armor really only protects against pistol rounds, 45, 9mm, 10mm/.40 etc. Doesn’t even do that great against stab attacks. These plates will stop all of those.
