Hello All. I’m a retired military police officer (USAF) living in Colorado Springs, CO, and plan on holding a fundraiser for Shield616 this summer. Each day our police officers respond to various incidents, some of them are potentially life threatening. These brave officers are spouses, sons and daughters, parents, and our brothers and sisters too. We want them all to return home safely to their families at the end of each shift. Our officers willingly put themselves in harm’s way, and those responding to potentially deadly situations should be equipped with the best protection available. My goal this summer is to raise enough funds to purchase at least one lifesaving, rifle-rated vest for the Colorado Springs PD and one for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

During the July 4th weekend, I plan on completing an extremely challenging, ultra-endurance bikepacking race that follows gravel roads from the northern Colorado border to the southern Colorado border. The route is roughly 600 miles long, with 50K ft of climbing (elevation gain). I’ll be carrying a GPS tracker so friends, family, and anyone interested can follow the link and see my progress along the route. Although it’s a race, it’s a solo effort and completely unsupported, meaning no aid stations or support of any kind will be provided along the route. I would like to use this event not only as a personal challenge, but as a means of raising money for a worthy cause, and Shield616 was at the top of my list. Should my adventure compel you to donate, any amount will help and is greatly appreciated. Also, 100% of your donation will go directly to Shield616!
